Lost a bangaii today

The female I had paird up with my big male died today, I have no clue why. She was extremely healthy and had a very aggressive appetite, this morning she was perfectly fine and eating like a champ. When I looked in at about 2pm she was stone dead. No physical indication but when I squeezed her belly there were eggs in there fairly well developed. I know fish can die from getting eggbound but so quickly??? Other than that I have no clue what happened, every other fish in the tank/ system is fine. Any thoughts? This was not a "new" fish, I got her from Kristin who has had her for a long time, maybe years.

I have a backup female, he won't be lonely for long. I just wish I had some idea what happened.

Actually I am picking up 5 more bangers today from a guy I know, he is moving and breaking down tanks.
