I recently purchased a pair of false percs. I ended up losing the larger of the two. After waiting 4 weeks, I put the smaller clown in my display tank. My question is.....I want a pair. How can I introduce an additional clown? Can I just put a larger clown in there?
Ok. I added a smaller clown. He's quite a bit more yellow in color than mine. Mine is more of a deeper orange. Anyway, my clown is beating up the new one. Will this eventually stop?
Thanks. I didn't want to give him a death sentence.
So his coloring will darken up? The new one looks very plain next to my deep orange clown. It almost looks like they are two different types of clowns.
So far my clown has killed three replacements I've placed in the tank. Each one was smaller than mine. I give up. Looks like I either have to trade this one in on a new pair or just have one. I'm leaning toward replacing her since she's showing no interest in the GBTA I purchased. Would purchasing a wild caught pair increase the chances of this?
Wild caught would increase the chances of hosting since they would actually know what to do with the BTA. I finally gave up on the Occ. and Perc clowns in favor of Gold Stripe Maroons to host with my GBTA. It definitely worked as they went straight for the BTA but they loved it so much, they killed it. The GBTA was a good size at about 9in and the bigger Maroon was only 2.5 in long but they would go out and then shoot back in just hammering the Nem.
