I am sad since I lost my naso tang and a firefly fish yesterday. I have a Corals both SPS and LPS and Softies , Only change recently is that I build and Wooden Canopy. Below are my levels

Alk-11
CA-480
NO3-0
PO4-0
SP-1.025
MG- 1400
PH= 8.2 -8.4

It's been a week since I had the Canopy in there, I also dose Kalk with Viniger . Also Water change 22%/30 gallon every other week total of 135gallon. I do feed them seavagies and Frozen Brine Shrimp every day. Also Have a passive carbon and GFO in a reactor. I also feed the Plankton's as often as I can..

Please advice so that this does not Happen again.
Thx

Really not much to go on. Maybe just coincidence. Any symptoms prior to the deaths? A couple comments; frozen BS, unless enriched with spirulina, is a very poor diet staple, little nutritional value. I'd expand your food list (at least 6 frozen & pellet foods) and add vitamins (Selcon, etc) . Also, I think your tank is way too small for a Naso Tang. Cramped quarters=stress.

Yes I was thinking about the small tank thing for a fish the size about 5 inch for Naso Tang . It turned dark grey and spin in cycles that the day of the loss. Prior to that it was lookig fine.
Will keep the advice for my next food purchase ..

How long did you have those two fish? I assume they were eating and behaving normally, and died all of a sudden?

In the past, I had fish suddenly die on me that were otherwise looking good and eating well. When I dipped their bodies in freshwater afterwards, I noticed lots of flukes. From that point on, I treat all new arrivals in QT with Prazi-Pro, and freshwater dip before adding to the DT.

As for the wooden canopy, did you paint or seal the inside with anything? I used Kilz Premium to seal the interior of the canopy, but I let it cure for a few days. Also, is there adequate ventilation within the canopy? Besides potentially decreasing gas exchange, heat can also build up when your MH lights are on.

Yes they where feeding good and I had them for a 6 months. I got a white paint for inside the canopy I forgot which one, but I asked the Homedepo guys to give me some that is less harm full for acqurium. I did cure if for a day . Also for gas exchange I have a fan runs frequently for this on once side of the canopy

Lost a Wrasse today I tested again today

Can any one help ? Corals looks good!! . One thing I remember Only recently in the past 2 week rased the alk for 8 dkh to 12 dkh combined with that high ph will that cause the this fish to die,, I notice that the day before they become less active and it was spinning in circles.. Ok Switch out GFO now only have active carbon yester day to see if that help.

Also I have some green stuff on the sand on the display tank. I do crean that up at times..

Any advice will be helpfull. THx

I took the canopy off and I still lost of my tomato clowns . I saw some white spots on them the day before they died.My corals are doing good so far. Also my ORP used to be 425 to 474. I am seeing some drop int that too around 360. Not sure what's going on. Also I did a 20 gallon water change . It this is caused my stress or illness can a UV filter retify this issue.

Please advice

Hello,

Very sad, sorry for the loss of your fish. Did you add any fish into the tank recently? In one of your responses you said that the fish had been in the tank for over 6 months but were they the ones that died, or is it that you have not added any fish in 6 months. Do you have any fish in the tank still? I am no expert, just trying to get a clearer picture.

Rob,
