I'm just puzzledI've done every thing I can think of. Lights 135 watt compact salinity 1.024 dkh 8 nitrate 0 nitrite 0 amonia 0 phosphate 0 calcium 440 . i have a few crabs not shure what they are round like little finger cheap ones they sell 10 for 10 . only snail I have left medium sized mexican turbo. plenty of flow. Between the cyno and this I'm at a loss.

I've had the same problem for over a year now Ronny--lost a lot of snails with ideal conditions also. I can only figure there is a predator somewhere in the reef.
Since my hermits seem to survive and a big mother brittle star I was honestly thinking of beefing up the hermits and adding another brittle star--forget about the snails

when was the tank set up? no cuc will take care of your cyno problem. Have you seen any of the crabs looking for new shells? Some hermits will kill snails for a new home. What kind of flow do you have in your tank? the cyno may be preventing a desirable algae for the snails to eat and they starved. Some snails can not turn themselves over if they fall and will die. What kind of snails aside from the mexican turbo did you have?

I'll tell you want to do about the cyano---you have been patient enough.

this frag tank was loaded with it one week before:

then I used this ;)

this after trying all the methods you have--go for it and clean the tank up:smokin:

My hermits are very small there not the problem. i have seen the cheap don't know the name but size of end of little finger crabs they have been messing with them. I saw them kinda digging at the half dollar by the way American dollar bigger worth more than yours HE HE !! Can they at that size kill these snails and the larger mexican turbos. I think they wre trochus . The Ultra Life slime will it affect my corals only softies and my mushrooms. Thats a frag tank wow beautifull. By the way that Canadian remark I made a while back was for you know who. Only thing i could think of at the time. As you know i spend 10- 12 hours weekly in your neck of the woods. We got to get together I'm always pressed for time. So why if crabs kill snails are they included in a CUC ????? So what will do the job of snails i can't get rid of the few crabs i got.

I don't see any preditor like you know only 25 gal not much room for anything. By the way LFS asked if i see any flat worms are they white I'll look again tonight . with light.

How many snails did you have? And is this for your 25? I find that people put in too many snails and they slowly starve.

IMO, a 25 is too small for turbos. I had one in my 30 that cleaned the tank of all algae within a week --- moved it back to my 75.

the mexicand seem ok. By the way only the turbo grazers seem to die .

A bit confusing, you say that the mexican seemed to be okay, then say that the turbos died --- in your other post you stated that you have Mexican turbos.

Been looking at my tank for past hour with flashlight and magnifying glass. I found what resembles catapillar very small with kinds white hairs like things you see on wet wood. doesn't move. Also whit worm wigling out of rock also doesn't move. The small crabs at work. Nasarious look ok and mexican turbos good The other turbos not doing much. Nothing around snails .
