lost my clam

hi all
i have just lost one of my maxima clams,all the water paras are fine ,when i took the clam out to see what killed it ,it looks like the boring algea has done the job.all of the inside of the shell has this algea actually inside of the shell .so how does the clams get this algea ,and how do you try to prevent it from spreading to the other clams....its not a good day as this was my biggest clam at 4by3 inches.god i hate it when things go wrong ..

Terribly sorry for your loss.

Was there a small pinhole in the shell?

Did you actually see algae or sponge on the outer shell?

i couldnt see any holes or algea on tghe outside ,but on the inside there is dark green algea actually inside the white shell.
