Lost swissguard basslet

I had purchased a beautiful swissguard basslet from Rob, and he was doing great, eating, ect, and I found him dead in the QT yesterday. Can't figure out why. He'd been @ Rob's for a month before I got him. I've had him several weeks. The only thing I can figure is, the PH in the QT has been drifting down to 7.8 every few days. All other parmeters perfect. So I added some buff 2 days ago, and maybe that did him in. Any ideas?

Sometimes things like that happen with fish. John lost a sailfin tang today that had been doing great in his tank for a week or more. Fish just seem to die every now and then, I wouldn't worry to much about it. If you are having trouble with your QT tank, try keeping some crushed coral in the bottom to help stabilize pH. If the pH is still problematic then you may just want to leave it alone. pH fluctuations are more likely to hurt something than low or high pH, stability is key with most things.
