what kind of tang is that in the 10th and 40th pic? Looks like a yellow tang...but blue. Pretty cool. Was there a school of them?

Steve

It's an Atlantic blue tang.

Oh yeah... You do usually see a number of them at a time, though usually not in stereotypical school form. They usually blanket an area and munch on the rocks. There were so many fish...

Here are some terrestrial shots. I was playing with the new lens and love it (Canon 70-200mm L IS f/4.0). I got some nice panoramics, but am not sure how I'll ever get them posted. I haven't done the save for web option yet in Photophop to reduce size, but one is 10MB now... I put 15 or so pictures together. The images are crisp. Some of these shots were taken by my wife in the car while stuck in a traffic jam, so they aren't as crisp as others, but that is a special cause. Love the lens:). I started enjoying sunsets, too.

Nice pics gary. My family was in st. maarten last year around august. Nobody is a certified diver, but we are all obsessed with snorkling. There was a tropical storm blowing through right at the end of our vacation. The great thing was, when it really started to come down, we were at the sushi bar next to this beach (it was happy hour and the drinks were FREE!). So we drank and watched the planes buzz the beach, mucho fun :)

You didn't grab any of your own pics from that beach did you?

Jenn took that one after a rude comment from me;).

Chuck-we didn't find that area until the end of the week. We met up with the dive crew for a beer or two that Friday night and that's where they recommended ($0.50 Heineken). We went back after checking into the airport the next day. That seems to be where all the fun was;).
