Loud skimmer

I have an Aquamaxx ecomaxx em300 that has gotten loud.. it's not the pump it's the "silencer" on the airline... I have cleaned it out etc.. doesn't help... it sounds like a pressure cooker or a teapot haha... any tips or ideas?

I have a similar issue with the skimmer that came with my CADlight system. I ended up adding a hose to the top of the 'silencer' and ran it to the back of the stand. That reduced the roar by 80%.

Or, if the hose doesn't work, the skimz silencers are just that, silent. In all my years, I've never had a quieter skimmer because of this.. I have a dual pump skimz, and can't even hear the thing running..
