Love my osmolator - but sensors stopped working

Hey Roger,
I love my osmolator and have it hooked up through your kalkdispensor. Unfortunately, I just came home from vacation to find the sump level low. Everything is still fine in my tank, even the pumps, but it appears that the osmolator sensor is no longer signalling the tunze pump to send more water to the sump.

Any suggestions as to what may have happened? (Note that i dose the kalkwasser away from the sensor in a different chamber of the sump.) Can I fix this or is the sensor bad? I purchased this from preuss animal house from Steve in January of 06.

Thanks,

JT

So you have a green LED on but the water isn't touching the sensor?

Two basics- make sure that a film of water isn't trapped between the sensor and the glass or rail and try cleaning the sensor in vinegar. Short of that, the optic sensor likely has failed and needs to be replaced.

I think my sensor has just stopped working, as well - the green level light stays on constanly - even after several cleanings. The unit is out of warranty... can I buy a replacement sensor or do I have to replace the entire unit? If I can just the sensor, where would I order it from?

The sensor is not a do it yourself project and it needs to be checked out further. It will have to be sent in. Unfortunately i leave Monday for Germany and will not be back until the 22nd. I will take up doing repairs again on the 23rd if all goes well.

hey roger,
just wanted to let you know that an overnight vinegar bath for the sensor put my osmolator back in business. Working perfectly again.

----thanks
