I bought a used mh light and it didn't come with the glass. I had no idea this was bad. I burnt all of my corals. This has been going on for 3 weeks now until a friend figured it out for me. I had no Idea the bulb needed a special glass under it. Has anyone else had this problem?

was this a double ended MH? Those will give off larger amounts of UV and can be harmful to the corals.
But I would guess the light is simply much stronger than what your corals are used too and you burnt them that way. Light acclimation is the most important type of acclimation IMO. There lots of ways to do it, shorter photo periods, screening, raising the lights up high and slowly lowering it.

it just needs tempered glass. I might be wrong but I believe its just a normal pane. As poo-tang mentioned this only pertains to double ended bulbs. A single ended bulb does not need the glass.
What kind of pendant is it? Maybe we can point you in the right direction to getting a replacement.

Yeah you need it to be tempered. It gets really hot and the last thing you need is shards of glass crashing down if it gets splashed.
What is low E? Do you mean Fe as in iron? I have never heard it needed to be low iron but I mostly use SE bulbs so yeah..... I am now curious.
