Creating depth, texture and a dramatic look by strategic placement of light and using proper exposure.

Well, at least I like the way they look.

Used a tungsten spot to light the red coral from above and to the rear. Exposure was set to correctly expose the brightest part of the red mushroom and let the rest fall off.

When looking at the purple green spotted mushroom to the left of the red I saw something I liked even better and shot that too.

What camera and lens are you using?

For these two I used a Nikon D-100 with a Sigma 105mm lens outfitted with a blue filter to remove the yellow shades from the tungsten light.
