Low magnesium

Last night I tested my mag for the first time and it is low, 1080 ppm. What do you use to raise it, how slowly should it be raised, and who has it locally? I should say that I am adding B-Ionic 2 part currently, which I thought boosted Mg.

Most of us use BRS 2 part...much cheaper and very good..You will need magnesium to increase it. I have some if you need.Im in Mt Juliet so about as close as it gets

What product do you use to raise it? I work in Smyrna, so both the Critter and Fins and Fur aren't too far out of my way home if they sell something that will work and not be a burden on you.

Andy is refering to the Magnesium component of BulkReefSupply's 2 part Alk/Ca system. It's sort of a misnomer, it's actually a 3 part system made up of 4 different chemicals. The Magnesium component is magnesium chloride and magnesium sulfate. Check out their website, they have the goods and a calculator that will show you how much you need, over what period of time to get your parameters in line.

Oh ok, sorry for the confusion. I hope to get in on the BRS group buy next time it goes down. I am using B-Ionic, and I think it should be raising Mg also, but it looks like I need something to boost it a little.

Epsom salt provided you don't make a habit of it and do regular water changes.

Will non member be able to join in the group buy? I am interested but not a real member.

As far as epsom salt, is that better than commercial products? I went by the critter and bought some dt's mg suppliment. I do regular water changes. 20% or so every week. I use regular instant ocean salt mix.

Well then you should Join!!! We had a great time when you were over a few months ago! I do not have an answer to whether it's open or not at this time, but membership is not expensive.
