What does low magnesium usually indicate? Mine is currently at 990 which seems really low. My calcium was also slightly low so I supplemented it with calcion but i haven't really had to deal with low mg yet. Is there a similar product that does the same thing but for mg?

There are many Mg supplements out there brs has there's, tropic marine, etc. 990 is really low how old is your test kit? What brand of salt are you using?

Magnesium is continually used up and needs to be replaced just like calcium. In my DT I test Mg. every 4 days and replenish my magnesium every 3 days during water changes.I actually spend $30.00 a month for just Magnesium for my 220 gal. DT.I keep it at 1360 to 1400.You purchase it at the LFS,just like Ca.Yours is low,and will affect the balance between KH and Ca.If you keep the magnesium level consistently within acceptable parameters , it will help you maintain alkalinity and Calcium balances and avoid catastrophes with sudden imbalances

Not sure how old the test kit is as I got it when I bought my tank used, but the expiry date says 2017 so I assumed that its still good. its the salifert one. I've been buying pre mixed saltwater from the lfs for the past few weeks due to lack of time I'll have to ask next time I'm in there. Looks like I'll be looking for a magnesium supplement today..

Save yourself the trouble and get some quality salt and do it yourself . Do you know what brand your lfs is mixing up? Because 990 is really low.
