lower ph

my 150 tank with 100 gal sump is high on ph. just wondering what the best way to lower it down? and thanks for the info

What are you considering high ph??? mine can swing from 7.8 - 8.5.... although those highs and lows are not usually within the same day

As far as how to lower, what are you doing to raise it?

Usually the best way to lower it is to stop raising it.

i dont add anything but essential elemnts by kent. and as of 8 pm tonight it was at 8.9 every thing tested good exept the ph

In all the years ive had a reef ive never had a ph of 8.9 and I usually drip kalk 24/7.

Either your test is bad or your using some kind of highly ph elivatated tap water for make up. If its not your test or your tap water then my only guess would be reread your kent products.

You shouldnt have a ph that high.

i use a ro for water ive been doing a water change of about 45 gals every 2 weeks i change the carbon about every 3 weeks and i dose only in between my carbo change like the bottle says. does the brown alge have anything to do with it?

No your algea shouldnt be effecting your ph or your tests abilitity to read it corectly.

Hey Kyle, I really do not thnk your ph is that high. I have a test kit you can use if you want it. Here is an article on high Ph that I found before though. I would not do anything to your water untill you find out exactly what your ph is though.
