Lower temperature reef

I kept my last reef tank in the 78-80 range. Now that I've switched to led, my heater's are constantly running to keep it around 78 in my holding tanks. The tank I'm setting up is in the finished basement of my house and it's always cool down there. I'm pretty sure I could keep my tank down around 76 year round without using a chiller.

Would there be any negative impact to SPS when keeping temperatures in the 75-76 range? It'd also open up some interesting possibilities for fish.

I have noticed slower growth at lower temps

I'd be ok with slower growth as long as the colors are good.

You should be fine. Reef Gardens runs their place at 74 degrees, and they have good success.

That is good to know. I will see if I can keep it at a steady 75 an see how things go.
