LPS at Seahorse

Was just there about an hour ago, and they had some nice LPS in. Some Aussie Scoly's (expensive at around $189 for green or red ones, but still nice), and some pretty substantial acan lord colonies (probably 20-40 polyps for $120-$160).

Probably not a price I'd pay, but for retail, it's actually not a bad price all in all. Just figured I'd let you guys know in case you are interested.

I personally feel its never been "bad" just lacking selection and seemed to be the same things in stock. Its nice to be walking in now and seeing new and exciting things, something to break up the same clowns zoas and leather corals. I almost fainted a few weeks ago when I saw a frag rac in the one tank loaded with nice looking rics. Then I walk in a week later and theres Lobo's and Acans.

It's never occurred to me to even think about going in there looking to buy coral before...but some of the lobos and (if I'd had a bigger budget) definitely the acans and scoly's tempted me big time. But I was there for fish since I only had 3 in my tank...so I came home with a Sailfin and a school of chromis. Now I can go back to coral now that I've tripled the population of my tank :)

If anyone ever travels to Central NewYork stop at The Reef Shoppe and Carribean Forest in Rochester. In fact, it would be worth making a special trip if you're looking for corals. Luckily I have relatives there and get to go a few times a year. All of the pet stores here seem to order the same things.

What kind of stuff do they have up there, and how is their pricing?

Both stores (they are only a few block away from each other) have a wide variety of corals from all over. I'd say that each place has at least 3x more than Wet Pets and the prices aren't out of line with what we pay locally. (The prices are actually marked on the tanks) The Australian corals are pricy but that is everywhere. The most impressive aspect is that their corals are on display not just in a tank. The rooms have subdued lighting and the tank lighting really intensifies the individual coral's colors and movement. They got me hooked on LPS corals because of their displays. I have the phone numbers for both if you are looking for something specific.
