am i going to encounter issues keeping some aussie lps pieces (mainly acans & scolys/lobos) in a tank that runs 72-74*?

thanks,
ben

I would doubt it, since the recommendation for reef tanks is usally 72-78*F, but two questions: why keep it that low when the trend seems to be around 78*F? and how are you keeping it that low? I mean, the trend towards keeping tanks closer to 78 is probably just because of the MH lighting that most of us use. So for most people, 72 just isn't realistic. But as long as it's consistent, I don't know of any reasons why it wouldn't work.

I wouldnt see a problem with it. But I have never actually ran my tank that cold for an extended period of time. give it a shot with a single specimen and tell us how it goes!

i think you can do it.. every ones in a while we read that some japanise acans like low temp and even bail out in regular temp ... japanise and australian reef are cooler... some sites sell low temperature coral as well like captivereef.com
