LPS not doing good SPS rocking

OK.. what gives! my sps is kicking and the LPS is sucking.

stats are:

salinity 1.026
81*
ph 8.1
ammonia and nitrite 0
nitrate 20 and falling
ca 450+
KH 11

I just dont get it. all but a single acro look awesome and the candy and frogspawn are not looking good. the candy does extend feeders at night.
 
"Clean" H2O = Pretty SPS & Usually not so pretty Softies

"Dirty" H2O = Pretty Softies & Usually not so pretty SPS

Your softies could just be going throug a funk. My softies usually look funny for a few days and then come back bigger and better looking.
 
IDK. they are in a gentle flow area. my frogspawn moved alot more at the old house. they are about 1/2 way between top and bottom. I did move the candy to even lower flow and a bit lower. I thought it was gonna make a comeback after I got the angel out, but it is showing some tissue recession.

angel is gone and has been for a week. Tangs are too busy begging for food and I have never seen them do anythign near the corals.

by the way, teh zoa's are rocking in the tank.
 
The damage from the Angel nipping may have already been done and you are now seeing the results, May be too late for a recovery JMO

Yea, I am thinking that may be the case. worst part is it looked good for a few days....then took a turn for the worse. it has put feeders out at night but as of last night, it didnt.. Oh well.... Im an sps guy anyways.
 
I bought some not long ago at the place in Tullahoma. I think it was the only one they had at the time but they might have ordered more since then. Worth a shot. I definitely saw improvement after using it. Had to shut off my skimmer for awhile though.
 
Check your Magnesium. My LPS start to look bad first when my Mg gets low. BTW I try to keep mine around 1400-1450

Its over on W. Lincoln close to Food Lion and Sonic. Just west of the stoplight at W. Lincoln and Westside Dr. The name of the place in Finz N Featherz Pets. Call me if you need better directions.
 
I have some Magnesium from the guy who I got the tank from, but not sure if I have a test kit.... ill have to see tonight when I get home. Funny.. I never dosed MG in a tank. my old tank had some MASSIVE frogspawn and hammer....

I do not like the guy that runs it! Never liked him since when he first opened in manchester.

I would just keep up with water quality and do water changes and it may bounce back. I have lost a few LPS colonies when I had a lot of problems awhile back but I got the large colony of frogspawn to come back after I baby it for many months now.

thanks, we ran by that place and poked around but I could not find the stuff I was looking for. the fact that I didnt remember the name didnt seem to help any!

OH well.
 
I use it after each water change. It can make your skimmer foam excessively - I have to dial mine down for 24-hours or so after adding it.
