LPS not doing good SPS rocking

ill have to remember that next time I go to the store. I was rather brain dead and had getting a fish on my mind since the wrasse didnt come in.

Unlike the other Seachem additives, it does need to be refridgerated after its opened. I had a small sample for you - enough for one dose of your tank... blame it on your missing fish that you didn't get it!

Still not getting it. Must have been what that Angel did to the LPS, but oh well...

Tested last night and here are the results
Salinity 1.026
temp 81
Ammonia and NItrite Zero
Nitrate ~25ppm (working on getting this down)
Phosphate Zero
PH 8.1
KH 12
Ca475
Mg 1400

Hmmm.....aside from a higher than I want Nitrate, all others make me happy. Cannot figure out what the deal is here.

BAD TEST KIT

anyone konw the shelf life of a salifert nitrate kit? I tested the water straight from my top off tank and it tested the same as the tank. in a few when I get off the couch, ill test the effluent from the coil.

Your KH is getting on the high side IMO but some like to run it that high, As long as things look good i would not worry.
Your Po4 being 0 is most likely wrong and being used as quick as it being introduced to the tank. If your fish eat and poop you have Po4 but algae use it as quick as it's introduced to the tank. JMO

bill, I was thinking that myself. what is yours at? I was thinking it needed to be around 10. im going to half that vodka for a week and see if I see any differences. leave the rest as it is. I tossed teh candy today as it looked like %$#@. the frogspawn is ok, but not perfect. ill also be getting a new nitrate test kit too.

in a week, im also going to turn off the CO2 to the reactor for a week to lower that KH.

Mine has been running around 9.6 KH and 430 Ca Not sure about Mg i need to buy a new test kit. Believe it or not all but 2 of my SPS colonies are almost back to full color after the Shock treatment they endured several weeks ago Duh... The 2 lost will be reactor media real soon Hahaha
I would just raise the PH a little and let it fall slowly as to not shock the coral and wind up losing color or burnt tips. Just a thought

Yes, I want to try and get it to 10 or 9 KH and that should set me up properly. I unplugged teh solenoid valve on teh reactor so now it is just water flowing thru it. ill check it in a week to see what it has done.

Vodka overdose!!!!! I bought a new test kit and my nitrates tested at zero! The salivary one tested at 25. It was old and had gone bad. I'm reducing my vodka to 2 ml immediately and will monitor for a few days then reduce it in half again till I see an increase in the nitrates. Effectively I had a ultra low nutrient system and the extra vodka was what kills the candy And now the birdsnest isn't too happy. Hopefully these changes will not be too late. Incidentally, my cheat ball has shrunk to less than half it's orig size

at least these look good.

ok, so I now have the alk down to 11, the Ca to 450, I didnt test the MG. Am, Trite, Trate all zero. the PH was a bit low for me at 8.06, so I put an airstone in the sump to boost that up a bit. it was also midnight when I tested.

I got some new pretties from a friend and replaced the candy as well. it is now jsut 3" above the dand bed a good 18" below water surface. Maybe it just got too much light last time.

The other jewwels I aquired were tiny frags of green branching pocillipora, two differetn acropora, and another frag that I dont remember what it is. it fell behind some rock for a few months and is very white, but still alive. we will see ow it colors up. supposedly it is purple.
