My frogspawn and hammer coral for some reason arent doing very well my nitrites and ammonia are zero nitrates below 5 ppm the only problem with my water chemistry is my alkalinty is a little high i got my frogspawn as a single head and now it has three its just been the past couple days that its been declining but my torch coral is doing amazing. would alkalinity affect them if so is there anyway to lower it i know its supposed to lower on its own. Is there anything else that could affect them all my other corals are flourishing its just my hammer and frogspawn.

Have you double checked your temp in the tank.
The torch corals seem to be less apt to suffer anything bad from hi temps, but the hammer wont make it in the same tank with the same temp.
nothing could kill my hammer or my torch. then one day, we were gone for a couple days and the heat in the house was 89 when we returned. We think the tank got up to 83 while we were gone. The torch wasnt effected in anyway. My hammer on the other hand was already decomposing when we came back.
Everything in the tank recovered and are now growing like crazy, but the hammer didnt make it. It was a fairly big one too.
Im just throwing that out there as a possible cause of your hammer and frogspawn declining, just cuz thats what happened with me.
Could be coral warfare too i suppose, do you have the hammer and frogspawn by any other agressive lps?

i will keep an eye on my temps cuz it has been pretty hot in my room lately the hammer and frogspawn are both several inches from anything and the hammer is doing a lil better and the frog will come out fully about mid day but then sucks back in

Is it still sprouting heads? Mine do this during growth spurts. I have found in my tank anyway that all my LPS are a little touchier than the other corals when it comes down to water parameter and temp swings. What are your tank parameters and what fish do you have in there? Could there be a nipper? Anything new added or done to the tank recently?

the best i can think of is i just added a vlamingi tang and so ive had to feed more so my nitrates went from zero to around 5 ppm the only other thing that could be affecting my frogspawn is my clown hosted to it but he only hosts when im cleaning the tank so its not a constant thing
