LPS release sting in the water - cause SPS dead??

Hi guys,

By God willing we have one new only LFS opened last Thursday. The owner is German guy.
He made me confuse when he said "cannot keep LPS and SPS together, because LPS release sting in the water, which cause dead of SPS as a result" I have no knowledge about that....what you guys says.

Lps and sps are often in the same tank. Maybe he's making a general reference to some lps having long sweeper tentacles ("sting in water")?

Lps don't just release free floating nematocysts into the water. My sps would have been dead years ago.

Soft corals can release toxins (not nematocysts) into the water.

Just need to give them space. Most people mix them up -- SPS towards the top of the tank as they need the most light, and LPS towards the bottom. SPS are usually peaceful and LPS are usually more agressive and will sting other corals so they need space between each other.

He means certain soft corals. Leathers for example, clear space by putting toxins in the water around them. In an enclosed environment like a tank that can be a problem. LPS as stated above can put out sweepers at night to clear space but not a general issue with SPS.
