Hey guys i am new to this. But i have a problem. I bought this torch coral at the store, and in the store it was big and full. The guy said that they dont use a lot of light so put it on the bottom. I did. And it is small and shriveled up. I test the water and the water is fine. 0 ammonium 0 nitrates 0 nitrites and 7.8 ph level. I have minimal flow on it. I am so confused. Any help would be awesome. Also any ideas on other things that could be affectin:headwalls:

How long has it been in the tank? It may take hours to a day or so to open up..they do like a bit of flow though just an fyi..lighting IME can be low to a bit higher..hth.

Did you acclimate it? How long have you had it in your tank? Also calcium and alk test results would be helpful.

Yes it was acclimated and I have had it for a week or so. The water is 76 degrees and I have never had a calcium or alk test taken. Do I like buy a kit or how do I go about doing that? Could that be the problem?

Usually your local fish store will do some tests for you, but eventually you should buy a kit so you can do it on your own. Euphyllia's are my tell-tale sign if something is off in my tank.

Okay I am going tomorrow and I will also ask the guys their. Thanks for the help! Any tips or things for any good corals or lps that are easy to take care of and hardy. Or any tips in general? Thanks!

Alk is from 8 to 11 normal. I think ur temp is a little low. What kind of lights are u running? I would put at bottom of tank if vho, but if ur running pc or x2 t5s that might be ur prob also. How long has tank been running.

Candy canes, mushrooms, zoanthids are all great starter corals. Keep us updated on what the tests show. What is your setup?

Thanks guys! :) I will post a picture. He has been moved to the bottom and i bought a new Coralife dual t5 lighting with a 10,000k and actinic blue bulbs. It has opened much more and my LFS retailer tested my water and said it was good. Also i bumped the temp up 78/79 degrees.

Here it is. (The new light was only on for like 45 minutes)
