Which is easier to keep, I am looking at Acans, Micros,Chalices and would like comments for those that have both and/or have switched from SPS to LPS or vice versa.

from what i have gathered myself, lps are generally easier to keep due to the lower light needs. sps generally need a lot stronger lights. the calc/alk needs are a tad higher on sps as well, but lps need them high also.

I just got a branching hammer was thinking either that or frogspawn but is having both fun too I just have a 12 gal aquapod with the hqi.

Average lps tend to be less picky than average sps, but both have picky members. I fins that lps has a greater variety of shapes and styles than sps and therefore keep my attention longer. It is possible to mix them.

Thanks for your comments but I wanted to know about Acans, Micros, and Chalices specifically. Anyone else?

well i've had mostly the oposit results but i think i'm the few.i have pavons, hydnophora, monti, and pocillopora and all have been fine although slow growing when my calcium, alk, and magnesium were off.they all have tripled in size in 7 months though.however my open brain has been a challenge to keep color and puffy since day one and if its grown at all i have'nt noticed.my lobo has'nt grown in a yr not enough to notice.i have 3 chalice or echinophylia.blue one has grown an eighth inch in 7 months and its hard to keep it blue, watermellon has barely grown and the purple one has just barely grown in 5 months.i have to move them around from time to time for them to have to perfect light for color.my trumpet has'nt grown but is healthy.i think lps are gorgious but unless i get a big peice for a reasonable price, whick right now i won't,and i'm not going to buy a frag for it not to grow.lps are most pretty when big and people are selling per polyp.they ruin the beauty of the coral by cutting it up for frags.
