LR and algae outbreak?

I changed my sump and skimmer setup.

Went without my skimmer for 3 weeks. I have an algae bloom brown algae. Whats the best way to clean and remove the alage from the LR. I can recure it. I have a Vat-tub with heater and power head filled with fresh SW.

Should I rinse and soak in freshwater and scrub and put in tub for week or 2?

Is it a new tank? How long has it been setup?
I would try to wait it out. Make sure you have an adequate clean up crew...snails, etc. My Astreae snails did a great job when I had my brown algae bloom.

How about water parameters?

2 months setup. Its FOWLR pred. So Puffer would prolly eat them.

Water parameters are good. Rock now has green and brown algae on top sections exposed to the light. I removed and now have in dark tub in basement heated with circulation. 2 401 powerheads running.

SG has been low. Just finished treating for Ich with Hypo. 1.010 SG

So today will be Vac. tank doing a large water change and cleaning pumps, UV and canister filter-replacing carbon etc. Routine things.

Snails love diatoms but I'm a little lost on the rest of your post. You plan to do a FW dip on your rock? Then prepare for some other algae outbreaks as you will surely need to cure it again.

To me you should do some water changes and bring the skimmer back on-line. It is apparent it was doing a valuble service and without it you are having problems.

I just removed the LR and rinsed it with Fw and SW from the tank.
Of coarse it doesn't smell the greatest so I have decided to recure it. Whats a good time frame? I have in tub with 86 deg water and 1.026 SG in the dark with 2 Hagen 401 powerheads circulating it.

You do realize that FW is as toxic to the critters on LR and other marine animals as a whole bunch of other toxins. Hyposalinity has its place but. IMO, not in curing LR. Dip it in FW fow awhile and the tie frame is forever. Give it a chance and that can be a onth or two.
