Hey folks,

Found something new on my LR this morning. I have no idea what it is, but it looks like a large black catepillar....without legs. However, there looks to be small tubular appendages located on its dorsal side. I saw it coming out of one of the holes from within my carribean rock.

I had to touch it. While its hard, it still seems to have a soft outer covering.

Its about an inch long and 1/4 in diameter.

Any guesses?

Nicole,

The black sea slugs don't really look like what's in my tank. They are jet black with a white stripe, along with antennea, whereas mine does not and is more of a really dark gray to black....if that makes sense.

i am sure there are other slugs besides the bss, though. In reading about the bss, one man talked about the only time he saw his was after turning on his lights. Funny thing about mine is that I too saw it after turning on my lights..... coincidence...probably

Whatever it is, its rather interesting.

Tomoko,

That's it!

Mine is either Bohadschia argus or the Holothuria mexicana, the Donkey Dung Sea Cucumber. Probably the latter. Dang, what a name, Donkey Dung!
