Lr???

where is the cheapest place to get LR...besides local reefers...in need some to make some LR rubble
unless there is a place to get cheap LR rubble

thanks in advance

does it need to be LR off the bat? you can get rubble from marco rocks. I think 10# is like 15 bux before shipping. it's dry base rock, but after being in an established system, it will be live. you might want to cure it first though before adding it right into your tank. Check his FAQ if you decide to buy.

make your own. can't get much cheaper than that i used portland cement, rock salt, oyster shells and it came out nice

buy from other reefers in your area

If you wait long enough, it will be cheap enough. Cheaper than making your own. A guy in my club recently sold all of his off for $1/lb, and being local, there was no shipping either.

It would probably be quicker than waiting on base rock to become live. It just requires what we all seem to lack here, patience. ;)

Half of my rock in both tanks is from fiji and the other half is from the gulf of mexico, by the sunshine skyway bridge in S. St. Pete. Not as porous but it works for a little contrast and I get alot of little crabs.

Instead of man-made cement rock,You can get hi-rocks for cheap. It's dead rocks (former live rocks) so you also need some live rock to let hi-rock mature in your tank. After a couple months, you will not be able to tell which is the original hi-rock and which is the original live rock.

base rock: dead rock, dry rock, non-living rock. Like the cement rock they are talking about. Over time it can become live and encrusted with coraline algae
