Lubricant for bulkhead gasket?

Does anyone use a lubricant for their bulkhead gaskets? Perhaps a silicon type?

If so, why?

No lubricant, it can make the gasket squish away and not seal right. If you install it properly is should seal no problem.

I used some for mine and it did exactly that...squish right on out. I had to take apart the assembly after it started leaking. I ordered new gaskets and installed it dry a week later after a temporary fix with some rubber I had to cut myself......and all was fine then.

No lube needed, rubber gasket on the inside, paper/cardboard gasket on the outside, HAND tight, do not over tighten these, that's when they leak.

+1 on magic lube. I love glass holes. Don't over tighten but the lube guarantees you want have a leak. Try to but in a 6" bulk head with out any and see what happens. This stuff is great. But trying to explain to your wife that majic lube is for the fish tank is another story:eek2:
