I just finished researching reflectors and made an order yesterday. From what I read the Luminarc has no equal. Below is a link to two articles by Sanjay comparing reflectors it contains very good and very detailed information on a handful of reflectors.Originally posted by oosurfin
the lumenmax III seem to be a fairly new reflector on the market. anyone else have any info on the lumenarc III or lumenmax III?
Are you wanting this for dawn/dusk or just 03 supplement? There are DE bulbs that will give you the supplement and then use LEDs for dawn/dusk. That way you could go with a larger reflector.Originally posted by oosurfin
id also like to put 24" t5HO on each side of the reflector for 03 supplement.
The larger reflector will allow you to place it closer to the surface and have good coverage. With a smaller reflector you run the risk of light flooding the room because the reflector needs to be higher. Now if you plan on running these in a canopy then this is all void, except for a rather large canopy. As long as you center the bulb the reflector will still output a ton of light but more important it will redirect the light back into the aquarium.Originally posted by anthias_lover
I know most people use LA3 for 400w, LA3 mini for 250w, can I use 250w on LA3? Do you think 250w SE bulb works on LA3? How is the output of 250w on the 19.5†square reflectors?
