Lumenarc Reflectors

I am thinking about purchasing three of the Lumenarc reflectors and had some questions:

#1)
Is Lumenarc Lighting the manufacturer of the authentic Lumenarcs then? Use to be Diamond Lighting? Pacific Garden Supply is the same company as Lumenarc Lighting, correct?
Pacific Garden Supply:
"Pacific Garden Supply has been in business since 2002. We purchased diamond lights in February 2005."

LumenarcLighting.com:
"Lumenarc Lighting acquired Diamond Lights in February 2005.
We are the exclusive manufacturer of the patented Lumenarc 3 and Lumenarc 3 mini reflectors."

From an online vendor:
*These are the real Lumenarc reflectors. They are made by same company who makes them for PGS and Coralvue. The cheaper knockoffs are made in China.

I can't find any information about Lumenarcs on Coralvue's website, but I know ReefExotics.com has Coralvue ballast + Lumenarc retros.
Also, Aquacave.com has Lumenarcs by Coralvue.

I just want to make sure I'm buying the correct reflector

#2)
How many different models are there? SE vs. DE?
So far I have:

Lumenarc III (19.5"x19.5"x8.5")
This model can run both SE and DE lamps, right? For DE you just need to add the glass shield? or is there a separate model for SE and DE?
Has the option of adding a black stealth coating for non-retro
Has the option of adding AC upgrade

Lumenarc III Mini SE (14.5"x14.5"x6.5") -
Has the option of adding a black stealth coating for non-retro

Lumenarc III Mini DE (14.5"x14.5"x6.5") -
Has the option of adding a black stealth coating for non-retro

Any recommendations for where to purchase these online?

I am thinking of running three of these w/ Icecap 250w MH ballasts and SE/Mogul lamps

I've checked out the Luminarc mini and the Lumen Max pendants and thought the Luminarc were rather cheaply constructed. I bought the Lumen Max at www.premiumaquatics.com, it was only $20 more then the Luminarc. I have bought items from ReefExotics.com and they are an excellent supplier, I was just turned off by the quality of the Luminarcs. If you could compare the two units you'd see what I am talking about.

Are you comparing a pendant to a pendant or are you looking at just a Luminarc reflector without the pendant shell?

i have three lumenarc reflectors i got from reefexotics. they are the reflector with out the shell. they work great. as for poorly made they are just a thin metal. once install you dont have to worry about it. so if it gets bent it is your own fault.

I agree, but I'm looking at getting the actual pendants and was wondering if he was saying they were cheaply made or if he is comparing the luminarc reflector only to the lumenmax pendant which wouldn't be a fair comparison.

I'm talking pendant to pendant comparison. The black outer shell looks like a high school shop class made it in the case of the Luminarc.

OK that clears it up, thanks for the info.

Personally I am want my reflector to reflect and spread the light evenly. I am not concerned with flimsy. You shouldn't be playing football with it anyway.

Well, the Lumen Max does the reflecting job very well, and the outer shell doesn't destroy the whole look of your setup which is also a concern of mine

Well, this will be an in-wall tank w/ all retro lighting. I am not concerned about how they look or how flimsy they are.

So, does the Lumenarc III support both SE and DE in the same model or are there two different models?

How does Coralife fit in w/ the Lumenarcs? Are they the same as PGS or is that a separate model made for/by Coralife?

I disagree that lumenarcs destroy the look of a setup...

My setup looks SEXY! :p

Sorry, I meant to type Coralvue when I made that post.
Any idea on them? I checked Coralvue's website and they just list two parabolic reflectors on there and nothing about Lumenarc.
