im in the process of setting up a 6-7ft tank for a moderate reef just a few soft corals lps e.t.c with fish as the main attraction..was wondering how many mh is dueable in lumanarc 3 reflectors i was thinking two would be the least i can do with 250w 14k phoenix bulbs they say they cover a 3by3 area so i would believe the 6ft tank would be fine but wondering if im pushing it way to much with a 7ft tank? also what would be better an 84x30x24 or a 72x30x30? thanks

Welcome to the Reef Lighting Page
Here I will present all the spectral and performance data for all the Metal Halide lamps I have tested since 1998. The data has been available in my articles published in reef keeping magazines.

This is my attempt to make the data more accessible to reef hobbyists all over the world, in a more dynamic format that allows for easy retrieval and flexibility in comparing the performance and spectral data for different lamps.

I am not a computer programmer, and this is my quick and dirty hack to provide something useable. I am sure there is a lot that can be done to spruce things up and make them user friendly.... but that is not how I would prefer to spend my time.

As of January 15th, 2006 there are 744 spectral plots and performance data available for metal halide lamps and ballasts.

Enjoy... May the Light be with You and Your Reef.

I have 2 on an 8' tank with a light mover. There is a slight dark triagle on the back wall. 2 will be fine on a 7 foot tank.
