Where ahould I place Luner Eclipse zoos? I have a standard 75 gallon tank with a 4 bulb T5 Light. Every place i move them they seem to open up and then they don't, who knows maybe im just moving them too much but I though I would see if any of you have any ideas.

Hello KyleCT,

1. What is a Lunar Eclipse? The name has absolutely nothing to do with its placement or your issue.

2. Please take a look at the sticky at the top of this page. If you can provide some background on your tank, that would greatly help us to help you. The sticky is entitled, "When asking for help"

3. Also, do a quick search on "25 reasons why your polyps won't expand".

4. Just curious why you keep moving them?

5. Polyps are picky, they won't open and/or expand every day and there is absolutely nothing wrong with them, it happens to all of us.

6. As long as you keep moving them my friend, they are not going to open. Moving them is stressful and only adds to the retraction you are experiencing.

7. How old is your system?

8. Answering the second question above will be a big help.

9. Every system is different, maturity, current, parameters, tank maturity, lighting etc ( watts, k value, and type ) all play a major role in how your polyps will appear and react. Providing a given name has no bearing at all on your issue, ever.

10. How long have you had them and when was your last water change?

11. Is this a frag, how many polyps and is it fairly new?

Please, don't think I am being smart mouth for asking all of the above questions. This is how you resolve the issue you are having and it is often easy to conclude through a process of elimination. In all that I just wrote, still, there could be absolutely nothing wrong with your polyps at all. I have seen this hundreds of times over the years.

Hope to hear from you soon.

I would put them closer to the bottom and leave them be for a while. Each and every time you move them they have to get used to the new placement.

This zoas is very sensible. At least for me, it did not do well.

I would put it in the botton and leave it there for a good time

I had mine at the top for a while and they did do anything. I moved them to the bottom and they perked up and starting looking better.

I got a frag a few months back and I too place them at the bottom. It wasn't until my hermit crabs and snails start moving them around before I place them on the top. I did my research and they can pretty much take strong lighting, so the small frag of 5 are now a colony of 50+ over the course of 6 months.

Thanks for all the ideas everyone, I have them placed in one area with a good amount of light and I'm just leaving them alone

I would place any new zoa in a lower spot first, until it gets used to the new environment.
Than you can move it slowly and try to put it where you want.
There is no rules for different species.
They will addapt to the conditions they can, but there are too many things connected to that like: water flow, light, water chemistry and others. They act together too.
You don't know where they came from also, so there is basically no info about their natural habitat.
Some times you think you've found the right spot, by what other people tell you, but you'll find out totally different.
You need to try yourself. Every case is a different case.

For some reason I havn't had success with this zoa...and I've grown 100+ species. Ive only tried high and middle...guess I gotta go low. Doesn't make sence though cause I got them from someone with (what I believe) jhad stronger lights and high.
