Is it a big deal to a LW if the tank doesn't have any sand? I am thinking of adding one but I have a BB tank

Many hiding places in live rock will help as I use to have a wrasse that never minded the bb.Actually loved all the hiding places

Plus aquarium arts has a bb display with different types of wrasses, though a lot of hiding spaces

It will cause a small degree of continuous stress on the fish for sure, which is definitely not ideal for it's long term health.

However, if this is a reef tank, I would greatly cautious you of adding this species. Not very kind to most reef tank mates, and will go after motile inverts.
