LUNATIC FRINGE-Duel 500g tanks, 1600g total

Great to meet you and see the tanks in person, photos do not do them justice! You are far more humble than expected. Let me know anytime and we can tackle some of those small projects. Don't forget to order the doser.

Great to meet you! I ordered the doser last night.... Saturday my goal list is to get the apex and doser up and running.....then Sunday when I am laboring through the hours of waiting during the little guys chess tournament...I'll figure out how to them!

Very kind of you to offer on the 271 tank projects I have going but I would feel guilty asking a guy with a family and his own tank projects for help....and since you don't drink beer I can't pull the old stop by for a beer and then put you to work trick!

Ha, I eat pizza So insert that in place of beer..lol. plus I get to play with an apex and doser...lol you kidding

Nice you placed the skimmer in the sump and setup the osmolator! , receive your doser yet? Also might need to open up the skimmer gate a tad, skimmer is looking too wet.

These are older pics...skimmer was moved up to where you saw it...still haven't decided where I like it more.... I took the picture while I was doing what I call a wet water change... A few hours before I do a 15% water change I will skim wet as part of the change....

Doser came in last night....going to try and work on it Saturday between a 5k with the boys and the new Spider-Man movie I am getting dragged too....

Need some dosing help. I see threads all over the net on everything BUT how much to dose using a doser and over what period of time.

PH is 8.01
Cal is 450
ALK is 7 (using baking soda to keep it at 8.5)...I am always having problems keeping this number up...want it around 9

I have a doser....couple of gallon jugs and 3- 1 liter dosing containers. For right now I only will dose Kalk.....

How would you set the pump and what mixture in what container?

The entire setup is exactly 20' long.

I had the cabinet guy over on Friday as we are working on the hoods. WOW it is a TON more engineering than either of us thought. I am going to use linear actuators to lift the hoods up and down. There will also be cabinets that go to the roof in the middle where the TV is... Trying to lift 300 pound lids from the back.....have them with close to perfect movement to not interfere with the TV cabinets....have side access behind the TVs..... All of this with trying to build the lids with structural integrity so that they can withstand being moved up and down over time.....

That is amazing 20'.

I used Linear Actuators to lift my canopy. I also used one to rotate my MH lights to create a cloud effect, sunrise and sunset.

Trying to catch up on Pics....so the large water storage containers are not opaque. So in order to know where the water is in each, I built old fashion water level indicators.

You can buy the stuff off of ebay but all you really need is fishing line, big jug, little jug, and a weight. Fill the jug with something heavy...for me it was crushed coral and then the remainder was RO water...I then silicone the top so it doesn't leak, but even if it did, nothing in here would cause a problem. Sink the Jug with the line going through the handle......then tie one end to another small container that is completely empty so it floats...the power aid bottle in my case....and the other end through the hole with a weight at the end....I now know water levels on both tanks at all times.

I used a sort of guide the has the fishing line going through it tied to the fishing weight at the end....don't need the guide but with the shape I thought it would work a little smoother.

As for the doser, if you know how many mls you use a day to keep your numbers where you want then I would take that number and divide it by the most doses you can do a day to keep everything stable. Example, i dose 200 mls of white vinegar a day so i do 10 mls 20 times a day. Just to give you a rough idea.
