Lyretail Anthias w/ Blackfin Fin Disease?

Mako Shark II

Fish are Friends not Food
Okay, I know that Lyretail Anthias are also called "Goldies", resembling fresh water goldfish, and that the fresh water versions are prone to Black Fin disease, but what is this??

Male center, female bottom:

He has (presumably) Blackfin rot on his aft Dorsal, ventral & pectoral fins, and he's the only fish in the tank affected.

(Hard to tell, but his Tail is naturaly more purple.)

Any Treatments?

that black spot you see is just part of the sex changing pattern.... i got the same anthias that did the same thing.

wait till it fully changed... you'll love the color.

I would have to agree with tqui, it looks like "he" used to be a "she" and is in the process of changing sex and colors.

Here is a pic of my male lyretail. Keep us posted on the transformation.

(Nice lookin' tank ebman!)

And thanks tqui.

Yeah, I stopped by the LFS last night and was told the same thing.

So I guess, (watch this space) and I'll document the morph of this transgendering hermaphroditic Anthias, as “he”, now sports a new flair!

Funny thing was: I knew he had gone male, but apparently the spike dorsal (alone), isn't a sign of maturity.
