Lyretail Anthias

I have had a male lyretail for about a month. Recently he has started snubbing frozen mysis and will only go for frozen brine. I have tried formula one with no luck. I will have to try some cyclopeeze I guess.

Tiny frozen meaty seafoods are best at first. Eventually they'll take pellets and flake, usually.

(Peter is my anthias guru) I feed a mixture of PE and hikari mysis (the anthias eat the hikari but not the PE) for one feeding, and capelin fish roe and cyclopeeze for another. My resplendents will also eat blackworms.

For little guys, anthias sure seem to be more difficult than the average fish.

I don't think they're all that difficult. At least the lyretails I got, they ate mysis right away, and eat like little pigs.

I find I get a great feeding response when I place food in a high flow area like a return or power head. It turns into a frenzy when the food goes flying by them.

A lot has to do with how they were handled before you got them.

Good point. They were at the LFS for at least two weeks. But I love these guys so much I'm going to get some others in the future!
