Lyrtail anthias?

Would 1 Lyrtail anthias be okay in a standard 48"x20"x13" 55 gallon?

I kept a single female (later a "he-she") in a std. 55 gal for over 8 years, and she seemed very healthy and OK in every way (got filled-out, kept her weight on, ate well, good coloration, etc.), so I'd say "yes".

Yeah, ONE of many Anthias can be kept in a 55. Space needs about quadruple when pairs (or more) and the related sexual behavior starts. (No, that doesn't mean I should move into a smaller house.)

Thanks, yeah just want one a trio would be nice but I know there ain't enough room. Love female lyrtails though.... Although the bartletts are very good looking fish as well.

A lone female will change sex, so you kinda end up with the best of both sexes.

Wow, thanks for posting the pics those are some beautiful fish!!! After seeing these pics I can't wait to get one. One of our LFS's has some real nice juvi females a few weeks ago, but I have another 5 weeks of QT after an ich outbreak in my DT :headwally: Oh well just have to be patient.

Greg, that is a sweet looking fish, how long has it been since she/he? developed the dorsal spike?
