Mac vs. PC

Like Inferno said it has to do with the architecture that the Mac is built upon that makes it run video, music editing, and graphic design programs better. You could have two identical machines and the Mac will run editing better while the Win will run gaming better. Just comes down to the efficiency of the OS to utilize the processing power it has inside.

I do have both PC and MAC in my house but as I said I never video edit. I cannot really say I drive the machines hard either.. I use photoshop and photoshop lightroom on both, and both seem to do the job equally well. I use my MacMini as a HTPC and it works just fine. I don't really game on the PC or MAC so I cannot compare.
I was curious what specifically made video editing better on the MAC since in all things that I do the systems are virtually identical.

The mac mini is a fine machine but I considered to be 1/2 a mac because all the components used in it are at the lower end of the performance wrung to make an apple more affordable for the masses, and by saying that you see no difference between the two machines just gives apple that much more cred.

I have a MacBook Pro, MacMini, Dell Laptop, DIY PC Gaming-Class, Toshiba Laptop (2x)
Each performs for what I expect, and all perform well. The ones with more memory do a superior job at image editing, the ones with less, do not do as well.
I run a mix of Windows 95 to Vista and Leopard, and Tiger...
I did not mean to imply that the MacMini works as well as the MacBookPro, nor the Gaming PC, nor my Dell Laptop... (my two toshibas are quite old, one is dedicated to the aquarium, the other is the kids mainly)...
From my experience, you can get better with a PC than with a MAC... Though with a MAC you get easier/simpler/"it just works" kind of stuff... so long as you want to do what someone decided you wanted to do.. (which I do, so it works)...
If they fix iTUNES, MAC will rule my household... but until iTunes can have a server/client model and run off of multiple drives instead of just one I'm not going hard-core(er) mac...

That cleared up quite a bit. I do really like the fact that the mac "Just works" kind of thing because I just don't have the time any more to keep playing around with pc's, one thing you pointed out which is key is that the amount of memory plays a huge role in the performance of the machine on both the motherboard and dedicated GPU memory.

It's not to much the machine but the OS, I was always experiencing all kinds of blue screens, fatal & Kernal errors etc requiring me to spend oodles of time troubleshooting the problem. I was also having major problems after windows updates. I'm just sick of having to change settings and troubleshoot no to mention the amount of viruses and the like that would attempt to get into my systems. Like I said, the mac just does it's thing and does it well, from adding hardware, software, updates and no viruses. In the 2+ years of owning this machine It hasn't faltered, not for anything but my mac runs vista faster then a pc does, I wonder why that is.

For me, I found that I can do just about anything that I want with my PC because of the vast number of 3rd party mfg components.... That is the "playing around" that I meant...
With the MAC, it either exists, or it doesn't... if it does, you plug it in, comply to how they want you to use it, and wamo, instant success.

I love my 24" Imac, as I needed an all-in-one to sit on my counter. That being said if i needed a desktop a PC build is a no brainer. Mac pros are ridiculously overpriced. Great cases though!
