The Marine Aquarium Conference of North America (MACNA) is the premier marine conference focused on the hobbyist and the industry that serves it. The final planning for MACNA XVIII is well underway and we have an incredible weekend planned for September 22 - 24, 2006 in Houston, Texas.
As always, the core hobbyist comes first. We have phenomenal speakers that will inspire attendees of all levels of knowledge. There will also be workshops by leading professionals.

There are over 100 booths where vendors will be displaying and selling the lastest in hobby equipment as well as livestock.

As always there will be an incredible raffle that will include many items donated by our vendors and sponsors. Just a few of this years raffle items include a show stopping 74" silver and gold Jelliquarium (donated by Midwater Systems) and 2 trips for two to Jamaica (donated by PCL Travel).

The MACNA XVIII website has all the details you need including the conference schedule, listing of speakers, raffle prizes, sponsors, vendors, as well as a forum for requesting additional information. In addition, the website has all the information you need to register and secure hotel reservations.

While there is plenty of room for those wanting to come to the conference we are quickly running out of space at the Friday night reception and Saturday night banquet. Please make your plans to attend now.

Thank you from your MACNA XVIII Planning Committee and the 2006 host club the Marine Aquarium and Reef Society of Houston.

if i go can i bring frags back on the plane ?????

We had a little bit of a problem with Continental last year, but after some talk we brought back a big box of Frags last year :)

We will have official MACNA collapsible coolers available to take your frags home in.

We had 4 of us that shared a medium size box of frags. We probally should have just kept or mouths shut and checked it in, but we decided to let them know what was in it. They got a little panicky about having saltwater in the cargo hold. After unpacking it to show how well it was wrapped and a few managers later, they let it on. Good thing we showed up early as it took about an hour to go through it all.

I'm in colorado and huston is a bit far away. Plus since we didnt get our tickets before may 31st they aer $175. How bout one in denver. Us coloradins would love that.

It should be in Boise, ID. Why you might ask? Because it's almost a sure bet that nothing else will be going on. Plus Idaho doesn't get enough attention from the rest of the states. I mean, come on, we passed up Spokane in population finally... lol.

No,no, no. You californians have enough trade shows and what not. Lets get some of these events on the right coast please!!!!

yeah but we have a lot of things to do and see besides coral and fish... it could be a whole family affair...

2007 LA.. or Orange County....

Any club that wants to host MACNA should contact MASNA.org's BOD to find out what is involved. We hobbyists love the three day conference, but the club that has to organize it for 12 months or longer has one heck of a job on their hands.

So if you are a club member and you want it in your neck of the woods, talk to your membership and see if they are willing to do the work.
