Macro algae covered in cyano?

Hey everyone,

I have a big pile of macro algae in my sump and it has started to get covered in cyano! I don't have any flow in this portion of the sump so I believe this may be the culprit.

Is there a problem with this happened? Will it kill the macro algae?

I'm worried that if I add flow it will go everywhere

If the cyano continues to grow, it will eventually smother the macro alage, eventually starving it of light. I would add more flow and try to rectify the problem - the sooner the better, IMO. What type of macro algae?

It's a clump of chaeto.

I rotate it manually every week or so just to put the cyano on the bottom but I don't think it has been very effective. Maybe if I just added a small powerhead to that area of the sump or something?
