Macro algae over load

i have a ton of green macro algae growing on my rocks, live sand bed, and filters. it looks like a very fine hair that is carpeting everything like a lawn I only just started putting fish into the tank so i don't have any grazers is there anything to get rid of it??? i heard urchins would be good but i have also heard that they will eat coralline algae as well and i have some macro algae in the tank i want to keep. I have margarita snails which are doing a great job but they won't clean the sand..... any suggestions????? 29 gallon tank with a power compact light set
thanks guys

Do you test your water? Do you use RO/DI water to mix your saltwater? Do you use a protein skimmer? You probably have high nitrates. Try to manually remove as much as you can and then do a water change using RO/DI water. As you say, urchins are good but will eat coralline.

HTH,
Kevin
