Macro algae

Guys,
I want to replace my bio balls with macro algae. How do I make the replacement without without affecting water parameters such as ammonia, nitrates, nitrites etc. Also should I put the macro in the middle or last chamber (furtherest right).

Remove a little bio balls at a time. Maybe a cup full or so. Probably put the macro in the middle chamber.
