IME, IMHO, my fave macro for a given system is the one that grows well. We use macro in virtually every system we have, and different macro favors different systems for whatever reason (lighting, water chemistry, etc). If one species doesn't "take hold", I try another until I'm satisfied with both the look and the growth (fast isn't ALWAYS best, BTW).
As for which macro to use for SH, they tend to hitch to anything with a "stem" (Codium, Botryocladia, various Caulerpa sp.) but their fave hunting areas will be bushy macros (Chaetomorpha, etc.), as they really harbor pods. We had a red bushy macro that they really loved to hang out near and hunt but I don't recall the name...it was one of John Maloney's "penny macros".
Personally, I really like Pulsating Xenia for mine. They really seem to enjoy the structure of it. I actually got the idea from my LFS, the owner has been in saltwater for years and is very expirienced and i really like how the tank looks with it.
Mine seem to like the long blade leaves of caulerpa prolifera, maybe because its similar to sea grass. Short busy macros like octodes also seem to hold their attention.
