Macro Lens for under $500?????

I'm looking for a macro lens for my Nikon D300s, but don't want to pay over $500. What's available?

Used, from a source like B&H Photo/Video or Adorama are good choices. It's more money than a private party but you can return the lens if it's not sharp.

What Doug said. You can look into a tamron 90mm 2.8, or an older nikon 105mm 2.8. Either should be under that price point. There's also the sigma 105mm 2.8, though, IMHO it doesn't keep up with the other two mentioned.
