macro seahorse tank

Hi I have a macro seahorse tank that has been running for over 2 years. There are 4 new seahorses from SW Seahorses that I have had since May. I had flatworms for over a year and finally gave my seahorses away and killed the flatworms by over-dosing flatworm exit. The flatworms died and the tank went through a mini cycle. A month later I bought these tank-bred seahorses. I also have a yellow watchman goby and a pistil shrimp and a fire red shrimp and 2 pom pom crabs and many bumble bee snails. I use a feeding station and feed 1 or 2 times a day, about 3 cubes total of mysis, and occasionally i feed cycloops and continue to add copepods.

Looks great! I am in the process of doing the same. I also love the blue/purple macro. Be interested in your params, photo period, etc.

Nice job!

In the near future, I plan on moving my seahorses temporarily to another tank, and taking mine down to re-do it. This definitely gives me some ideas, and I would also love to know what some of those macros are!

Beautiful tank.

Hi, my macros are caulerpa, Blue ocho, dragons breath (halimenia)
violet dreams, red bush hayi (red dictyota) The red with orange tips is the dragons breath. The purple is blue ocho. I bought all these from people on reef central. The tank is a red sea max 130D. It is 34 gallons all inclusive. The lights are power compacts, 10,000k and actinic I think. The temp is about 74 and the salinity varies but is around 1.23. I had trouble when I started the macro tank with holding the macros in place. The flow blew them into little peices. Nothing worked until I realized that the halimenia, dictyota and violet dreams all stick to the ocho and will take off from there. If you can I suggest growing the blue ocho first, then getting the red macros and using the ocho as a base. My tank is probable higher in nitrates because the skimmer is almost useless. I dose iron every week or so. I recently started a 125 gallon macro tank, half under T5 reef lights and half under plant lights. I will post the results after I see which grows better. Any other questions?

interesting advice on blue ocho. thats the one i still need in my tank . been waiting patiently for it to become available locally .
