Hi,
Im in the process of planning a 20g reef and i am plumbing a fuge into the system. It will have different types of macro and LR rubble. To light the fuge, i was thinking aobut mounting an old 30" NO flourescent strip ligth to the top of my stand. Not only woudl this provide light for the algea, but it woudl also act as a shop light, so i could see what i was doing under the stand.

Would this Work?

That seems a little under powered IMO. Check out the outdoor lights from Home Depot, there's one thats 64w of 6000K light, PC in a mogul socket. It costs a whopping $28 IIRC. I can post the model number after I get home.

Check out the screw-in compact fluorescent light bulbs and the dome shaped aluminum light fixtures (the kind sold as shoplights or reptile terrarium lights). Screw-in PC bulbs are available in wattages up to 45. I use two on my 20L 'fuge where I grow mostly Chaetomorpha.
