Anyone ever seen this stuff? (The red stuff, not the GSP on the left that looks sad because I just moved it).

It's only started growing since I upgraded my lighting; somehow it's survived four or five months of cooking and another five months with extraordinarily lousy lighting. It's fleshy, but firm.

Its most likely sprouted up out a previously dormant spore (like a seed) and that explains its survival through the lean times. Algae spores are pretty amazing.. when the conditions are right, they trigger into action.

Its too small so far to tell what it will become when it (literally) grows up. If it continues to grow post another photo of the growth pattern. Certainly does look like it will be a red, fleshy, macro.. most likely with some branching from the looks of things.

Actually, to be honest, I don't think it looks too much like any of those. It doesn't have flat leaves (although I definitely have the last macro pictured in that thread growing in my tank, as well :) ). Probably it's just too small to tell. When it grows a bit bigger, I'll take some more pics.

I had to turn off the circulation in the tank, because it sways in the current. It's pretty, whatever it is...as nice as any coral, IMO. Think I'm going to cut that flame angel out of my stocking list!
