Mag 3600

you would be much better using an external pump for this purpose, the mag drives are pretty noisy, and i have had a lot of problems with them developing leaks because they vibrate so much
 
I have a mag 3600 that I dont use because of the noise.
But I have never had any of the other mags make noise or leak.
Might just be my luck? But still they are all real old (except one)
 
I agree w/ datablitz I have two 1800 in my sump (? many yrs)
I broke one (my fault) I replaced it w/ a new one. But the new one gets hot.? I was told that mags do this, But I never have had this problem with a mag. The new one is built the same But maybe it is made out of different material? I dont know but it does get hot???? I Raised it up so it hangs out of the water in the sump. This has let the tank temp. come back down.


I have thought about updating my return pumps. The pumps today can pump so much more gph at a better watt. efficiency.

But I will say a mag is very very tough and dependable!!!
I find that to be the reason I hate to go ahead anad update.

I used to go to Biarly's up on 5th ave. in Col. but they are out of bus. now. Do you know of any other good lfs around Col.?

jacks pets in easton has good marine selection and typical dry goods. reef systems in new albany has a huge coral selection, some inverts, a few dry goods (good deal on salt)
 
Lucky-RC, if you live in central Ohio you have to make a trip out to New Albany and see Todd at ReefSystems. His setup might not be like a traditional LFS, but his systems are very well-run and his coral selection is outstanding.

I am pretty sure the bigger mags are now discontinued at least last time I went to champion lighting's website thats what it listed on their site that the manufacture discontinued the product. LFS's might still have some who knows.
