mag 9.5 or quiet one 3000 for 75g

Thanks dan, Is there a holder that holds the bag? Also, Does anyone have any extra locline they want to sell? The tank didn't have the loc-line returns when I bought it from the guy. If anyone has any, let me know. If not, let me know a good way to make the return nozzles out of pvc

here is the holder, champion is in philly and marine depot is in calf so you generally get the items a bit quicker from champion.

can the bags be reused? how often do they need changed? do you have to turn of the return pump to change bags? Sorry about all of the questions...I am going to do a little more research

No problem,glad to help,

I have about 8 bags and wash them when i get down to my last bag.I usually change the bag once or twice a week and wash them in the washer with no detergent just water about 3 cycles then dry and reuse.

I do not turn the pump off but you can if you are afraid you will splash or what ever.

I just set up my 75g and I am getting a lot of "toilet flushing" on my drain. I have had to turn the ball valve way down on the return to get it to stop. I have a quiet one 3000 pump a storage tank downstairs. Do you think I would get better results with that pump. The overflow drain is rated 600gph. It is a megaflow overflow. I think the mag 9.5 might be too much. Any opinions?

I use to run a mag 24 as return to two 75g with each tank having a 600gph they more than handled the pumps output, the noise came from the pump that thing was loud

I read the whole thread and did not see any question about the drain itself, do you have a durso standpipe on the drain?

looks like these

just checking... try blocking most of the breathing hole on the top of the durso, this hole is sometimes too large and causes too much air to get in the pipe and make it noisy, use a piece of tape to block it and see if that helps then with a sharp pencil open up a tiny hole on the tape to let air in (you need air in there just not too much) adjust the opening as needed, its worth a shot!

is that what causes the toilet flushing? I have always been told to enlarge that hole.

there is a sweet spot where you get optimum drainage and low noise, that is why I use the tape to find it!!!, all other suggestions will help reduce the level of noise coming from the sump and you should apply them if you need/want a quieter setup, let us know how it goes with the test!

Thanks kelvin. I have the drain pipe to the sump coming down and then into a 45. it seems to have helped but it hasn't solved the problem. Should I go with the flex pipe instead of hard pvc?

its hard to tell you what is what here...

the ones with the check mark are the drains... two from the tank and one from the frag system behind the wall, its an old picture and at the time they were draining below the water line, since I built a box/bubble trap to contain the turbulence and the 3 drains drain to that box, I dont think your sink sound comes from the output is more likely from the top, there is too much air in the line. JMHO.

thanks....i thought about building the bubble trap/box but wasnt sure hpw to go about it. I built the sump from a 30g. maybe i should put the drain above the water line. i was concerned with splashing
