Mag Flake group buy???

After calling just about every hardware store/ feed store in colorado I think I have found the dead sea works mag chloride...

The only issue is that it is sold by the pallet only each pallet has 48 bags, and each bag is $15.81. The store is local in Denver. Name is envirotech (spelling???) If we could get enough people together to buy a pallet it may be well worth it? Anyone have any experience with these guys?

well I may have jumped the gun a bit here, I contacted meltsnow.com (producers of dow mag flake I think) and this is what they had to say, when I asked about dow magflake for aquaria. It might just be a CYA but.....

"MAG is not recommended for and expressly prohibited from use in
aquariums because it is an uncontrolled product for snow and ice control and can contains spikes of impurities such as nitrogen, heavy metals,etc.

We offer an Aquarium grade product which we sell to artificial sea-water manufacturers and is possibly available from them.

Using snow and ice grade product for reef keeping is playing Russian Roulette with your fish and aquarium.

Thank you for your interest."

I responded with a link to RHF article on the two-part and this is the response I received.

"We are deeply troubled by this recommendation and article and while we have asked that it be removed, the site has refused. Realize that using snow and ice control grade product for this use comes with a lot of risk and while it might work for some people, we draw the analogy that all cigarette smokers don't come down with lung cancer either."

Not looking to create a debate or trouble, just relaying information from what appears to be the manufacturer... Not sure what to do now.....

I have a 2lt bottle of mag chloride in my basement from a buddy. I will look tonight and see where it comes from and get back to you.

Why not just buy from brs? What is ther better choice between the sulfate and chloride?

If we could get a group buy going the savings would be huge. Ideally it is the mixture between both products that is the best choice.

I think I'm just going to go with dolomite, it sounds the easiest to me.
