Mag float sock?

Hi guys, so I went to Jeff's and on their magfloat they have some kind of cloth sock over it. They said it works better. does anyone know what this sock is? Thanks!

sock on the outside or inside?

If located on the outside, it would act to reduce friction. Seems to be a great idea. The felt on the outside can get dirty easily w/ salt and dust on the outside of the tank.

I am sure you could do the same w/ a small piece of cotton (from an old shirt). You could easily remove the sock, cotton, etc and toss in the wash.

they go on the inside... my mom got one for her tank, and it works good on the harder to remove algaes...

what about getting a small strip of an algae pad and placing it on the inside mag? Same effect?

there was a cloth on the outside part and like this net looking cloth on the inside. I tried to buy some they didn't have any. It was on their arcylic tank in gardena

it's called micro-mesh. i usually get mine from 99 cent store. i go to the kitchen sponge section. look for the sponge with a micro-mesh wrap then just cut it off and use it in your tank. btw, make sure its the WHITE micro mesh. they have the colored (green, gold, etc) micro mesh and that is not good for acrylic tanks.

I got mine from Carson Tropical fish. The one that I have is for glass tank. I forgot how much I paid for. May be 3-4. To me, it seems to help a little bit on cleaning.
